Intimate Information Questions

Page history last edited by Laura Clark Brown 15 years, 2 months ago

1.      Is it unethical to digitize diaries containing intimate information about living persons?

2.      If we digitize these and other contemporary diaries, what measures, if any, should be taken to protect the privacy of third parties?

Follow Up Questions on Explicit Sexual Content

1.      Do we consider explicit sexual content objectionable for digitization? If so, does the objection lie only with contemporary collections?  If explicit content was written in Spencerian script with a nineteenth-century creation date, would we hesitate to digitize it? Why?

2.      Are we running any legal risks in disseminating material that may reasonably be considered pornographic?
